Review of "As You Never Bothered to Return My Call" by August Kleinzahler

"As You Never Bothered to Return My Call" by August Kleinzahler was offered by Poets.org's Poem-A-Day on October 1, 2013.  The poem sings of "that magical summer" experience that most of us have had as teens or young adults.  It is a "what if..." poem about "the girl that got away."  There is fond reminiscence coupled with wistful regret.  One of my favorite songs, Beach Baby by First Class (pictured) immediately started "playing" in my head as I read.
