"That’s All That Matters" by Gene Hodge

That’s All That Matters
Gene Hodge

In the morning . . .
before daybreak,
I am sky free
and the stars dance for me.
When I told this to someone,
they replied, “Stars don’t dance . . .
they shine!”
I laughed. . . .
“They dance for me,
and that’s all that matters."

Poets Notes:  I’m an early riser but enjoy sleeping in—especially on the weekends.  Though I would like to be lying in bed when the day breaks, I have come to peace with the way I am wired and have discovered a magical wonderland awaiting my sleepy eyes as close as opening my backdoor.

Editor’s Note:  I find this one magical, sprinkled with a dash of humor and beautiful imagery.
