New Poem: To a Boyfriend 1
I've never had a boyfriend but I've been a boyfriend, so I imagined what I'd like to hear (and not hear) from a girlfriend. The task was similar to but distinctly different from writing a greeting card poem to a husband. The boyfriend-girlfriend stage of a relationship is awkward by definition. There may be the hope of marriage or not, for example. There may be the hope of love, but perhaps love has not yet blossomed. The relationship ranges from "more than just friends" on one end to married in all but name on the other.
