Review of "Pinned and Wriggling on the Wall" by Usman T Malik

"Pinned and Wriggling on the Wall" by Usman T Malik appeared in Daily Science Fiction on June 25, 2013.  "A young man and woman wrestle with the emotions of their forbidden love while, born of that love, the images in the woman's sketchbook come to life."

The mood of this piece is what makes it a moving short story--the yearning, angst, and danger flow around the reader like liquid thought.  Although the story is confusing at times, the reader is compelled to push past the confusion until the story begins to make sense again--in the same way that the MCs must seek something solid in the turmoil of their lives.  6 out of 7 rocket-dragons.
